Do not order commissions from this person. He will take your money, and then you will NEVER HEAR FROM HIM AGAIN.

I understand that it takes time to draw. I understand that real life sometimes intrudes upon the act of making art. Shit happens. A family member might get ill, you might get in an accident, someone might break into your house and steal fucking everything.

I get it.

Life happens.

And y'know what? I've been there. I know what it's like. That is why, as long as there is communication between me and someone I commission, I will wait until the END OF FUCKING DAYS to get something, as long as I'm told why I'm waiting.

Over a year ago, I commissioned :iconalex0wens: to draw a sketch for me. He was prompt in answering my request, and I was prompt in sending money to get the transaction started. Then I never heard from him again. At first I was patient, and gave him some time. Weeks became months, and months became, well, more months, until a year had gone by. Occasionally I'd send a note, fishing for response. No response.

I figured at this point that I'm out $15. Whatever. I go to his page, and see that I'm not the only one this has happened to. Not by a long shot. Some comments I've read complain of waiting more than two years to get sketches they'd paid for. A few months back I'd left a comment saying that essentially, I knew my money was gone, and that at that point I was no longer interested in either getting the sketch or my money back, as I was tired of not hearing from him.

You can probably guess what happened next. My comment was hidden. Oh, how mature. No, no, don't take the opportunity to explain yourself, or apologize, or any number of other things that you could have and SHOULD HAVE done. Hide the comment. Because nobody suspects that hidden comment says anything bad about you. Not when they can skim thru pages of comments and find dozens more that you've hidden.

He's a pretty popular guy too. Talented as all hell. And, predictably, he's got a nice little bandwagon of sycophants who will jump up to his defense whenever he posts a little crybaby journal about not getting his obligations done and all the mean mean people who give him shit.

Let me tell you something, people. Just because someone has a modicum of talent, does not mean that they are infallible. They are not immediately excused of wrongdoing because they are talented at drawing. He is WRONG for doing this. Plain and simple. He owes many people either their paid for artwork or a refund, and he seemingly has no intention of delivering on either one.

I know that I'm nobody, and that about four people read this journal, but I would NEVER, in a million years, take another person's money and then fail to engage in any contact with them for over a year. It's tough to draw. I know this. And I know that life is tough. Y'know what? Deal with it.

Alex0wens, you've complained that nobody will hire you because of all the negative comments you get. You have absolutely no sympathy from me. Not after more than a year of silence. I would have accepted ANY EXPLANATION as to why I've been waiting. I have waited much longer for other artists that I've commissioned, simply because they took the time to email me and say, "Hey, my mom died," or, "Hey, I'm swamped with lots of others in the list before you, but thanks for being patient," or "Hey, I work two jobs in addition to commission work."

But you have offered me nothing. And hey, I don't really care anymore. Haven't for a while. The only reason I'm writing this journal now is because I see plenty of others who are also going through your shit with no explanation.

So keep my paltry $15.00. You seem to need it much more than I do. Use it to buy some honesty or some communication skills.

[UPDATE 2/24/2013]

He's changed his name, but his silence and refusal to reimburse his customers has remained the same. Back in June 2012 he posted a journal saying how he was an addict, how he spent the past several months in rehab, and how he was now clean and ready to make good on his obligations. That last for about a month before the journal was edited out. He's back up to his old tricks, still not answering anybody, still not making refunds, still not providing the art that several HUNDRED people have paid for.

You can change your name, but you can't change your spots.
